Kyiv, Ukraine, Saturday — The blare of air sirens and the sound of explosions echoed throughout the night in Kyiv and several other Ukrainian cities. Russia launched a “massive” aerial attack, firing 580 drones and 40 missiles. Ukrainian air defenses heroically shot down most of the targets, but some missiles and drones hit their targets. Result: devastation, death, and tears.
🏚️ Scene of Destruction
A cluster munition strike in Dnipro directly targeted a residential building. Twenty-six people were injured, one of whom is still in critical condition. Authorities also confirmed that one person died there. Two more deaths occurred in the Chernihiv and Khmelnytskyi regions when missiles destroyed homes and buildings. A fire broke out in Khmelnytskyi, destroying more than 20 homes, and rescue teams recovered a body from the rubble.
🗣️ Zelenskyy’s Statement
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians. He said: “This isn’t just destroying buildings, it’s destroying our dreams. This is Russia’s terror strategy.” He praised his air defense forces, who prevented even greater devastation by shooting down missiles and drones throughout the night.
